Monitoring Performance with the PageSpeed Insights API - DE

  1. Google Pagespeed Insights Online is ranked 2nd while GTMetrix is ranked 3rd. The most important reason people chose Google Pagespeed Insights Online is: Considering the fact that a large fraction of people nowadays visit websites from mobile devices, it is very important that your site performs well on mobile browsers too
  2. I am force running pagespeed in the EU and seeing similar results. I will say that pagespeed has a consistent ~200ms TTFB while running locally have ~60ms TTFB, and that URL seems to send more images to pagespeed for some reason? Some odd behavior for sure, and some questionable latency which might be us or the site.
  3. While an update to PageSpeed Insights might not seem particularly earth-shattering (especially if you preferentially use great tools like Pingdom, WebPageTest or even Chrome Dev Tools), it is.

Insights - Ghoster

  1. PageSpeed Insights incorporates data from the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX) to display real-world performance data about a page. What does this mean? Speed metrics are median values of all devices that report to Google. So don't expect them to update each time you perform a report
  2. How Google PageSpeed Insights Works. One way to get an accurate read on how long your site takes to load is by using PageSpeed Insights. Some people voluntarily give Google access to their Chrome user data. PageSpeed Insights works by analyzing the data from people who have visited your site recently
  3. I'd like to use PageSpeed for performance testing, but without the deprecated Chrome plugin, there doesn't seem to a good way to test sites using an IP whitelist. Please advise. Re: [pagespeed-insights-discuss] PageSpeed Insights ip addres
  4. @patrickhulce please don't claim it's all about "you've been doing it wrong". That wasn't the case for many of us.
  5. What is also relevant is that both reports not only differ in the score and the overall times, they are also considering differently what are render blocking resources for CSS (in our case) and getting a no-sense TTFB. Our site is cached in the pantheon global CDN with varnish and has a latency of 30ms, Is not possible to get 1.6s TTFB. Something definitively wrong here.
  6. One of the pain points in website performance optimization, however, is the lack of ability to easily run page speed performance evaluations en masse. There are plenty of great tools like PageSpeed Insights or the Lighthouse Chrome plugin that can help you understand more about the performance of an individual page, but these tools are not readily configured to help you gather insights for multiple URLs — and running individual reports for hundreds or even thousands of pages isn’t exactly feasible or efficient.
  7. I was able to get the Lighthouse CLI to produce similar results as PSI by turning off emulation and throttling.
