Les Paul Standard 60s (Image credit: Epiphone ) Based on '60s-era Les Pauls, the Les Paul Standard 60s boasts a mahogany body with a maple cap, mahogany neck and Indian laurel fingerboard. There's also ProBucker humbuckers with CTS electronics, Grover tuners and a LockTone ABR Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece Selecting both pickups was definitely my favorite though. It hit the spot for crunchy blues, but not so fat sounding that you couldn’t pull off solos.Same as the Epiphone LP Standard, but with open 498 alnico pickups instead of covered, dot fret markers instead of block inlays, and the body is not bound. This model is the same as the "Goth", but there is no XII fret marker, and is available in Ebony, Alpine White, Worn Brown, and Worn Cherry colors.[11] The Epiphone Les Paul does sound good. It has that rich and deep Les Paul Studio sound, but I wouldn't necessarily say that it pairs with the Gibson Les Paul. The new ProBucker pickups that Epiphone has installed on the Les Paul Standard (full review) has really improved the overall sound of the Epiphone LP

Looking over the body at the attached hardware, and it all looks legit. Nothing seems to be hanging off or rattling. I poke and prod at the parts to make sure, and I’ll never feel silly for doing so! 2019 EXCLUSIVE NATUREBOX REVIEW: DOES IT EVEN TASTE GOOD?

Is a signature model made of guitarist Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society) made by Epiphone. It comes with the signature "Bullseye" finish, an unfinished maple set neck with a rosewood fretboard, 2 EMG, Inc. passive pickups and gold hardware. There are "Camo" and "Buzzsaw" signature models too, but these have been discontinued. In 2011 the Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom 'Plus' was introduced which included EMG 81 and 85 active pickups and ebony fretboard.[8] Amp-wise, I’m going through my trusty British-style, 30 watt, all valve combo with a 10” speaker. Thinking about it, it’s not too far off what an owner of an Epiphone Les Paul Standard might be using. It’s a far cry from the solid states that dominate the beginner market; it’s better than a hybrid or digitally emulated affair; and it’s not obnoxiously big or expensive like a professional player might have.Looking at the set neck joint of this example, and it sets the bar high from the outset: clean cut; neck flush with the body; doesn’t look forced in; no glue residue or any other blemishes on the finish – you really can’t ask for much more than that.

The Les Paul Ultra has a nato body, and rosewood fretboard with large mother-of-pearl inlays, the Ultra's body has been hollowed out to create resonation chambers, producing a deep and rich sound, and also reducing the weight of the often heavy Les Paul body. This model also has an ergonomic notch like a Stratocaster to feel comfortable against the player's body. Finish choice is limited to faded Cherry Burst with a quilted maple top. Alnico Classic Humbuckers, Grover Machine Heads and a Tune-o-matic bridge are standard features. The Ultra is now discontinued. Based on the Ultra, the Les Paul Ultra III has several unique features, including a Chambered Nato body, a NanoMag low impedance pickup, a stereo, mono and USB output and other electronic changes to produce a unique sound. Available finishes for the Ultra III are traditional Faded Cherry Burst, Vintage Sunburst, Midnight Sapphire and Midnight Ebony.[16] Full disclosure: I’m a sucker for mahogany guitars with humbuckers, but I’ll try and not let that give any untoward bias in this review.Otherwise, there’s plenty here to keep a guitarist happily busy and content with the playing. I found the neck shape comfortable, but as with any guitar, that’s such a subjective thing. The fingerboard was fine – perhaps a little more ‘fight’ to it than other guitars. The Epiphone Les Paul Standard PlusTop Pro faithfully duplicates the essential features and appearance of the classic late-Fifties Les Paul Standard. The pickups consist of a ProBucker 2 at the neck and a ProBucker 3 at the bridge, both featuring the same Alnico II magnets used in vintage PAF humbuckers

Anyway, if you’re reading reviews about Epiphone’s Les Pauls, there’s a good chance you’ve already had a nosey at the range and thought “that’s an awful lot of different guitars that mostly look the same.” I’m not for a second going to pretend that isn’t a reasonable thought to have! With my usual EQ settings – bass at four, middle and treble each at six – I went straight to find some nice blues-inspired rock tones, so had things at the overdrive channel, with the gain dialled up to six.

Re: Time for a new Guitar - PRS SE 245 Vs Epi Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro? How do the Cort CR Custom models fare compared to these Epiphone stuff in build & finish? Those cort models are mostly low priced considering they include duncan 59 & JB models in them but haven't seen one in person At the mid and upper range of the Epiphone Les Paul range, most guitars retain practically all of the other essential Les Paul features -- two humbucking or P90 single coil pickups, two volume and two tone controls, a three-way selector switch, body and neck binding, 24.75 scale length and a fat rich sound with loads of sustain The Epiphone Les Paul Standard is a classic model which is now very much a mainstay of Epiphone's catalogue. In this video Lee takes a look at the range of tones you can get with this guitar and.

I have found what appears to be a very good deal on an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro. They look to be pretty much the same as a Standard, apart from the fact that they have uncovered zebra pickups vs. the standard's chrome covers. Could some knowledgeable person explain the differences.. The classic is a reissue of a 1960's les paul standard with modern pickups and a few other things and the '08 standard is a regular standard with upgrades. Oh and the classic is being dicontinued this year. the classic runs abou $1,899-$2,199 an dim not 100% on the new standard but i think it runs about $2,300-$2,50 Taking a closer look at the neck, and it has the familiar binding along the edge of the fingerboard. The back of the neck looks comfortable and highly lacquered. On the flipside, the fingerboard seems less finished than higher end models. The frets are evenly and tidily embedded, with the binding making sure there’s no sharpness. I couldn’t find any blemishes on the binding either.

The Epiphone Les Paul Standard review by Joseph L. Hollen is the best spot on reviews I've ever read about this guitar. It was honest not biased. I own an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and he nailed every aspect of the instrument. I went on to read a few more reviews on idTimemusic, I can say I'm coming back a lot. Thanks to Joseph L. Hollen To celebrate the life of the late Les Paul, Epiphone released a 2010 series of premium Les Paul guitars in which were made available in Heritage Cherry Sunburst and Trans Black[17] The Tribute Les Paul standard has notable inclusions over the standard including maple capped solid mahogany body, Grover Locking Tuners, Mallory 150 Electronics, Gibson Classic '57 and Classic '57 Plus Pickups. There are two versions known as the 1960 and the 2010. The 1960 version has a 1960s style slim taper neck, whereas the 2010 version has an asymmetrical neck.[17] Great deals on Epiphone Les Paul Standard Honeyburst. It’s likely this is another cost-cutting measure. One exception is the machineheads, made by Grover. I’ve never thought about it before, but I have to agree that if I want a familiar brand on just one part of a guitar, I’d probably pick the machineheads too.

Paribus Review: Is it a legit service that can save you money?

The basic Epiphone Les Paul Standard is a fine guitar too, but it does have the old Alnico Classic humbuckers. These aren't bad, but I don't think they are up to par the ProBuckers. Review: WiZ Smart Lights (Is it better than Philips Hues and LIFX?)

This model is part of the Epiphone Goth series, which are a run of guitars unique to Epiphone. This guitar comes in a satin black finish, and is a mid-range model because of its included pick guard and set-in neck. Its neck is made of nato with a rosewood fretboard consisting of 22 frets and a "XII" inlay at the 12th fret. The body is also nato with 2 Alnico classic humbuckers, a tune-o-matic bridge, and black chrome hardware.[10] Initially the Les Paul Standard and its new humbucker pickup didn't take off and were made in low quantities. In fact, the Les Paul Standard as we know it today was actually discontinued for most of the 1960s. But the humbucker and the Les Paul Standard did not go quietly into the night The Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard is an excellent guitar in its own right. It's difficult to criticize some of the cost-cutting features of this particular Les Paul. Epiphone has gone out of their way to provide as close to a '59 Les Paul Standard guitar as was possible while still keeping it under the $1000 mark, and each of the trade. The Les Paul Custom features multiple bindings around the back and top of the body and has a bound headstock with a split-diamond inlay. Unlike the Epiphone Les Paul Standard, the Custom model features a nato back and top, the available color variants were alpine white, black beauty and vintage sunburst just to name a few. The split-diamond inlay on the headstock and the block inlays on the fretboard are slightly smaller than on the comparable Gibson model.[5]

The neck pickup was a bit muddy – I can’t think of an application really for it, beyond experimental sludge rock. Enjoy the demo, then click the link above for more on the Les Paul Standard Plus Pro It’s a point of good practice to give a new guitar a play without plugging in at all. It will just help identify any potential flaws that might be disguised by an amp, especially one with overdrive. I played a few chords, riffs, licks and solos, up and down the fretboard, and didn’t hear a single thing that made me frown or say any bad words.

Introduction. There is something so mesmerizing about the very sight of the Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Be it the attractive colors and maple veneer with an almost regal finish, the elegant plain-top, single cutaway body or the familiar trapezoid in-lays on the finger-board that we've associated with all our favorite rock stars for ages, there is an absolute and undeniable 'wow' factor. The Les Paul, on the other hand, is more of a blank canvas in terms of layering effects and distortion. It could be said that the Les Paul has a simpler, flatter tone, still known for its warm depth, but lacking that subtle, secondary, almost percussive layer provided by the ES-335's hollow chamber

The Full, Epic Epiphone Les Paul Standard Review - Guitar

The Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 is a copy of the Gibson Les Paul Custom with 3 humbucker pickups, in black finish with gold hardware. It is sometimes known as "the tuxedo guitar". Epiphone manufactures 2 variations, one with a traditional Tune-o-matic bridge and one with a Bigsby B6 vibrato unit.[6] This is a solid price for a well-respected guitar. It’s one of those instruments where it’s actually difficult to find one that doesn’t have some kind of a deal going on it.The Les Paul ES is very similar in appearance to a normal Les Paul Standard, although it has F-holes in the top. It is actually a semi-hollow bodied guitar, incorporating a solid maple centerblock to combine the small body and 'crunch' of a Les Paul with the warmth of a hollow bodied guitar. "ES" stands for Electric Spanish. The term 'ES' is used by Gibson to signify hollow and semi-hollow bodied guitars, for example Gibson ES-335, so it is quite appropriate for this design. It also comes as a Les Paul ES Custom. The Epiphone versions are quite rare, with only 47 currently known to exist. One can value up to $10,000. Gibson still manufactures and sells an ES version of their Les Paul.
